This route starts at Milngavie, and heads uphill, before descending through the Baldernock area to Balmore, then crosses the River Kelvin to join the Forth & Clyde Canal at Cadder for the rest of the way to Kirkintilloch. The route shares much of the way with the unofficial cycle route from Strathblane. This route takes in the ford at Dougalston.

On reaching the Forth & Clyde Canal at Cadder, turn left to continue to Kirkintilloch, Twechar and Falkirk. Turn right for Bishopbriggs and Glasgow, or cross the road bridge across the canal to get to the northern part of Bishopbriggs.
