This route cuts across Eastern Glasgow, and avoids the need to use the busy main Clydeford Road, with its 60mph speed limit and roundabouts, or tackle the M74 motorway junction at Fullarton Road. Instead, it passes Tollcross Leisure Centre and through the Clyde Gateway East Business Park to link into Sustrans National Cycle Network Route 75 on the way to Cambuslang. The start of the route is right next to the official Glasgow to Cumbernauld Cycle Route along Cumbernauld Road.
