This route starts from Partick Station, links the Sustrans Glasgow to Loch Lomond and Glasgow City Council Glasgow to Cumbernauld cycle routes together and provides a west to north by-pass of the city centre. It also links to the unofficial cycle routes to Bishopbriggs and Cumbernauld at Sighthill. The section along North Woodside Road forms part of a proper official cycle route; whether it will be extended along the rest of this route remains to be seen.
Starting from outside Partick Station, take the underpass between the cafe and the video shop which leads to the Loch Lomond cycle path. Turn left onto the cycle path and go straight on until you reach the end (where the cycle route crosses the adjacent expressway on a footbridge with steps). Turn left under the railway bridge rather than crossing the expressway and then immediately fork right into Kelvinhaugh Street. At the far end, cross over Argyle Street into Derby Street. Carry along Derby Street, crossing Sauchiehall Street, and go into Kelvingrove Park via the main gate at Kelvingrove Street. Take the main path through the park, forking right, curving left then right, forking right at the statue next to the bridge and exit into Eldon Street.
Cross Eldon Street and continue straight on into Park Road. Take the first left into South Woodside Road and follow this round, passing Kelvinbridge Underground Station. Continue straight on up a ramp that brings you out onto North Woodside Road. Carry straight on along this road, crossing Maryhill Road and St George's Road, continuing into Braid Street. Fork left into Braid Square, turn right and leave the square at the far side. Turn left onto a path that leads to a footbridge over Garscube Road. Fork right after crossing this bridge and continue following the path alongside the M8 motorway. Pass the steps up to the Forth & Clyde Canal at Spiers Wharf and go into the subway under Craighall Road. Exit the subway and carry along the path, crossing North Canal Bank Street. NB: Canal construction work is currently blocking this section of route. Turn right after crossing the Garscube Road footbridge, and follow the signed cycle route past Cowcaddens Subway station, then along Cowcaddens Road, before turning left up North Hanover Street and Kyle Street, to cross the M8 motorway footbridge to reach Sighthill Park.
Once back alongside the motorway, there are two paths forking left for Sighthill. Both end up at the same place, the footbridge over Pinkston Road, and Sighthill is at the other side of this bridge. Alternatively, carry straight on next to the motorway to join the Glasgow City Council Glasgow to Cumbernauld cycle route.
