This route links the Clyde Tunnel to Newton Mearns via the Silverburn Centre, Darnley and the reservoirs at Waulkmill Glen. It also links to the unofficial route to South Nitshill at the Silverburn Centre.
The Clyde Tunnel has two tunnels that pedestrians and cyclists are allowed to use, the northbound and southbound cycle tunnels. Depending on engineering work it may be that only one is open, in which case users are allowed to use it in either direction, although cyclists are asked to walk. From the southbound tunnel exit, join Govan Road, then turn right at the roundabout with the Zebra Crossings into Drive Road. From the northbound tunnel exit, turn right into Burghead Place, right into Govan Road and right into Drive Road. At the end of Drive Road turn left into Langholm Road. Continue through the traffic-calming scheme and turn right into Craigton Road at a mini-roundabout.
At the end of Craigton Road, cross under the M8 motorway using the underpass and turn right into Barfillan Drive. At the far end turn left onto Paisley Road West, then right into Corkerhill Road. Continue along this road and use the cycle lanes past Corkerhill Station. At the end of the cycle lanes turn left into Braidcraft Terrace, in front of the shops. From here turn left into Damshot Crescent, following the blue cycle route signs. Turn left into Damshot Road and cross Barrhead Road at the traffic signals to take the road into the Pollok Centre car park.
At the far side of the car park turn right into Cowglen Road, then immediately left onto a path that goes past a demolished school. At the end of the path, cross the footbridge across the Brock Burn, then left onto Muirshiel Crescent. Go past another school and turn left into the bus turning circle. Take the path down through the park and under a small railway bridge (beware of broken glass and potholes at this location). Turn right into Kennishead Road. Carry straight along this road, passing Priesthill & Darnley station, then cross straight over Nitshill Road at the traffic signals into Corselet Road. Continue up this road which leads to the reservoirs (there is a gate about half way up this road and another to get onto the main road beyond the reservoirs).
To continue to Newton Mearns turn left onto the main road beyond the reservoirs and carry straight on until you get to Mearns Cross. For Barrhead turn right from the same location, but take care on the decent into Barrhead, as there is a sharp right turn at the bottom of a particularly steep section of hill. From Mearns Cross you can turn left onto Ayr Road and follow the East Renfrewshire Council cycle route to Thornliebank and then continue back into Glasgow, or turn right onto Ayr Road and take the unofficial cycle route to Neilston.
